Our Real Super Hero Story

Our Founder, Robert Alva shares his story of Super Cool Air's beginnings:

What's with the name?

"I started Super Cool Air Conditioning at the age of 25 under some circumstances that made me feel like I had to become a super hero.

Back in 1979, I had been married for just two months when my wife and I decided to purchase our first home together.  I was working for another air conditioning company at that time.  We found the perfect home in Whittier, CA and were in escrow to purchase it when the company I was working for announced it was shutting down.  I had to do something fast given that I had a new wife and a new home to purchase.

Two weeks later, I started Super Cool from our new home where my wife and I started the business together. Looking back at that time, I knew that I had to stay super cool and become a super hero for my family, hence the name "Super Cool Air Conditioning, Inc."

What are some of the highlights of Super Cool's history?

  • Founded in 1979 from my home in Whittier, CA

  • Moved to an industrial property in South El Monte in 1981 - same year my son was born.

  • Employed over 60 people.

  • Serviced over 30,000 businesses and 12,000 homes.

  • Expanded reach from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara in the north, Las Vegas in the east, and San Diego in the south.
